Make your own beads

A tutorial to make your own beads

Step 1: Place in large pot and cover with boiling water (as I poured in the boiling water I was able to add more shredded paper) These two pots (my largest) held about a shredder and a half.

BLENDER METHOD:
Step 2: Cover and let sit for an hour. Stir occasionally to break up the paper fibers.
Step 3: use a blender to further break down the paper.
Step 4: drain, add plaster of paris and mix well
Step 5: Add enough plaster of paris to create a firm consistency.
Step 6: Roll into desired size balls, squeezing water out as you go.
Step 7: Drill holes. Yep, DRILL, the plaster is pretty tough and trying to push a nail through it only broke the ball. Screw and drill it was.
Optional Step: If balls seem rough to the touch, smooth with sand paper or if will be coating these with tissue paper and Mod Podge. If we were painting them I would have sanded them.

Step 9: Decorate!

NON-BLENDER METHOD:
Step 3: allow to simmer for several hours, stir or use a hand blender periodically to help break up the paper.

Step 4: drain
Step 5: add plaster of paris and mix well

The best part of this method is that there was less water to squeeze out as I rolled the balls. The draw back is that it takes FOREVER for them to dry. Unfortunately I wasn't able to use the balls from this method of the MOPS activity because they weren't dry enough.

Step 6: roll into balls and allow to dry.
Step 7: drill holes
Step 8: OPTIONAL, sand rough edges if you plan on painting them or want a more smooth finish
Step 9: Decorate!

What should be the Price to Book Value of any Share

What should be the Price to Book Value of the share:

A P/B ratio of less than 1.0 can indicate that a stock is undervalued, while a ratio of greater than 1.0 may indicate that a stock is overvalued. Please note that it is not always reasonable to calculate book value as Total Assets - Total Liabilities.

Some Insights for Sharemarket Newbie Investors

Some Insights for Sharemarket Newbie Investors

Being little bit interested in Sharemarket and do some non-frequent investments into it. I came to know some of the facts which might help Sharemarket Newbie Investors.

These are totally based on my experience, my researches to understand few terms related to Stock markets. Hope these would be helpful to you as well.

DEFINITION of 'Price-To-Book Ratio - P/B Ratio'

A ratio used to compare a stock's market value to its book value. It is calculated by dividing the current closing price of the stock by the latest quarter's book value per share.
Also known as the "price-equity ratio".

Calculated as: A ratio used to compare a stock's market value to its book value

It is calculated by dividing the current closing price of the stock by the latest quarter's book value per share.
or
Price-To-Book Ratio (P/B Ratio)

or

Assume a company has $100 million in assets on the balance sheet and $75 million in liabilities. The book value of that company would be $25 million. If there are 10 million shares outstanding, each share would represent $2.50 of book value. If each share sells on the market at $5, then the P/B ratio would be 2 (5/2.50).

'Price-To-Book Ratio - P/B Ratio'

A lower P/B ratio could mean that the stock is undervalued. However, it could also mean that something is fundamentally wrong with the company. As with most ratios, be aware that this varies by industry.
This ratio also gives some idea of whether you're paying too much for what would be left if the company went bankrupt immediately.

Best of all, P/B provides a valuable reality check for investors seeking growth at a reasonable price. Large discrepancies between P/B and ROE (Return on Equity, ROE is expressed as a percentage and calculated as: Return on Equity = Net Income/Shareholder's Equity),  a key growth indicator, can sometimes send up a red flag on companies. Overvalued growth stocks frequently show a combination of low ROE and high P/B ratios. If a company's ROE is growing, its P/B ratio should be doing the same.

Another conservative alternative to using a company's reported shareholders' equity (book value) figure would be to deduct a company's intangible assets from its reported shareholders' equity to arrive at a tangible shareholders' equity (tangible book value) amount. For example, Zimmer Holdings' FY 2005 balance sheet reports goodwill (in millions $) of $2,428.8 and net intangible assets of $756.6, which total $3,185.4. If we deduct these intangible assets from its shareholders' equity of $4,682.8 of the same date, Zimmer Holdings is left with a significantly reduced tangible shareholders' equity of $1,497.4. Factoring this amount into our equation, the company has a book value per share of only $6.04, and the price/book value ratio then skyrockets to 11.2 times.

Despite its simplicity, P/B doesn't do magic. First of all, the ratio is really only useful when you are looking at capital-intensive businesses or financial businesses with plenty of assets on the books. Thanks to conservative accounting rules, book value completely ignores intangible assets like brand name, goodwill, patents and other intellectual property created by a company. Book value doesn't carry much meaning for service-based firms with few tangible assets. Think of software giant Microsoft, whose bulk asset value is determined by intellectual property rather than physical property; its shares have rarely sold for less than 10 times book value. In other words, Microsoft's share value bears little relation to its book value.

Top Five reasons to visit Delhi

Delhi is a city that bridges two different worlds. Old Delhi, was once the capital, in contrast, the imperial city of New Delhi created by the British Raj is composed of spacious, tree-lined avenues. Delhi has been the seat of power for several rulers and many empires for about a millennium.

Delhi, as said "Dilwalo ki Nagari" is very true. No adjective can better describe Delhi as "Jindadil"- always proactive, enthusiastic, full of life, creative, Ready. I resided in Delhi for very less time period and I think that was not the enough to describe Delhi properly but I must say this duration was enough for me to get the insights. Even today, when I come to Delhi, I strongly feel associated to this city.

1) The one of the most amazing thing I like about Delhi, is She welcomes everyone with the same affection and love. Although Delhi hurts herself several times for this unconditional love and trust. There is non ending list of such stories, recent terrorist attack on Parliament, is one of the most worst attack to the peace loving city and democracy of India.

2) Home for foodies: You are a resident of Delhi or a frequent visitor, but I am sure, you have not visited all the famous food places, stalls, restaurants in Delhi. A long list of Delhi restaurants with non-ending list menu list and their mouth watering specialties will make you crazy. May be you are tasting Pani-Puri road side or attending conference in reputed restaurant in Delhi, you’ll enjoy every bite.

3) A great history: Delhi also known for her great history and her survivability after the attacks of intruders. Delhi is the mother of several patriots and has witnessed several historic events. During the Indian Independence, it was the center of all the activities and after Independence, Delhi was built as the Capital of India. It’s a Political capital of India as well.

3) A cultured and self-disciplined city: I know Delhi as one of the cultured and self-disciplined city, although some of the incidents disgraced her glory.

4) A place or opportunities: I witnessed Delhi as a place for opportunities and destination for struggles. Delhi is like a huge tree, which has sheltered everyone who comes.

5) Delhi, a first choice for Tourists: Delhi is the most beautiful city in my eyes, Not only Indians feel, the tourists also wish visiting Delhi once. There are several places of interest for tourists like:

The Red Fort
Rajghat
Puarana Qila
Humayun's Tomb
Qutab Minar
Parliament House
India Gate
Jamma Masjid
Bahai's House Of Worship
Jantar Mantar
Rashtrapati Bhavan
Safdurjung's Tomb

Many a times the city was built, destroyed and then rebuilt here. Interestingly, a number of Delhi's rulers played a dual role, first as destroyers and then as creators. That is the reason; several poets have dedicated their poems to Delhi. Delhi also can be well described with the names:

Kuch Baat Hai Ki Hasti Mitti Nahin Hamari
Sadio se Dushman Raha hai, dushman dore jamana

Why Public & Media are crazy to have a glimpse of Aaradhya (a new born baby of Aishwarya Rai Bachhan)

Aishwarya Rai Bachhan, former Miss World of India and Bachhan family, since the birth of baby Aaradhya are trying to hide her from Public and Media. On the other hand, Public and Media are behaving crazy to have a glimpse of her looks. Might be they all want to first publish the photos and news related to Aaradhya on their Media to get all the credit of the show.

But before and after the birth of Aaradhya, several babies took birth to many celebrities, but Media was not that excited.

Is this the part of media created hype?

Is the Bachhan family doing justice with Public and Media who gave unconventional love to them across the years?

The birth of child is a great pleasure moment for any family, such moment should not be commercialized and these acts should be discouraged.

Fun With Vegetables
Coming up with some creative ideas of how to make eating vegetables fun can be fairly simple. Making a pizza is always fun for children. Have your children help you make that pizza and allow them to load it with colorful vegetables like green peppers, red tomatoes and black or green olives. They won’t even realize that what they are eating is so good for them! Making your spaghetti sauces with tomatoes and salsa is a great ways to add vegetables to their meal.

Hide Those Vegetables
Making your children’s favorite casserole dish and throwing in some vegetables is a good way to hide them without the children even knowing they are in the dish. Vegetable soups can be made with smaller sized vegetables and children rarely even consider this a vegetable at all! Blending up some vegetables in the blender and adding them secretly into a casserole is another good way to hide veggies from the children.

Cookbooks
Find some cookbooks that are designed for children. Often times they have great recipes that have ways of hiding vegetables in foods without being noticed by kids. Furthermore, the recipes might have stories or illustrations that your kids will enjoy, and they will likely make the ingredients (read: vegetables) more appealing or cool in their eyes.

Hungry Time
When kids are hungry they are going to eat. Choose a time close to meal time that the kids are hungry and serve them a nice colorful plate of veggies such as red and green bell peppers cut into strips, carrots that are sliced thin and some cut up yellow squash. Provide them with their favorite bowl of dips or salad dressing for them to eat with their veggies as an appetizer before meal time.

Be a positive role model for your children when it comes to eating vegetables. If the children see you eating something and enjoying it, they will want more themselves. Good eating habits are introduced at a young age and will stick with them as they grow older!

5 Ways of Making Performance Management More Inspiring

Performance management and inspiration might sound like a bit of an oxymoron, but I believe that making the process as fun and inspiring as possible is crucial, and will lead to effective performance management.
In many workplaces, performance management has become an aspect of working life that is anticipated with dread and disdain. So, here are five ways to make the process more fun, more contemporary, and more productive.

Simple Software
There are now excellent computer software packages designed to monitor and analyse performance management in simple, straightforward ways that are easy to use and interpret. Software such as Sonar6 allows you to set goals, plan career development, have more meaningful conversations and tracks your talent. The attractive look of the software also means that it won’t bore you to death.
Think Positive
It is a real shame that performance management has many employees donning their armour and drawing their shields. The best kind of performance management is that which, according to HR guru Helena Moore, leads people to ‘come out of it feeling more energised and positive.’
Be Nice!
Focusing on an individual’s achievements and skills is hugely beneficial, as they will come out of a meeting feeling that they are valued. If an employee particularly thrives in one area, then let that be their specialist area. Don’t try to squash people into boxes they simply don’t fit in to, as this will lead to a miserable working environment.
Integrate Social Media
Social media can offer a higher level of perspective on how staff are performing, and help them to see where their strengths lie as well as the areas where they might have missed the mark. Social media commenting can often be traced back to specific employees, making it a useful tool. Social feedback is currently more important than ever, and should not be ignored, as this is what potential customers and clients will refer to when they are deciding which company to go with.
Chats and Cuppas
Taking an employee aside for an appraisal when you have hardly spoken to them before is sure to make them feel nervous. Conversation and a fairly relaxed atmosphere with staff helps to encourage honesty and lower stress when it comes to appraisals and performance management. The other benefit is that if you know your staff then you will have a much better idea of what motivates them and what causes them to retreat. The key purpose of performance management is to make employees more effective, and if you know their personality type then this will be much easier.

A thin line between life and death

When we bring them to our home, we were very happy. They were tiny rabbits, probably both female, although I asked the vendor to give us the pair.  My 11 year old kid, Pravar More was very excited, ultimately he got friends with whom he can play, can touch and love.

I was happy for him as he got the company and was relaxed that he wouldn’t feel lonely, being single child. Rabbits were lovely, small, white, gradually mingled with us, and were given names. Now all of us were in their duty, my husband since morning started serving them. He tried several types of plants leaves, grasses, and vegetables and without failing providing us regular feedbacks about their likes and dislikes.

Rabbits, were choosy, they loved to taste different types of food and were not adhered to one type of taste. If they were hungry, they come to us to have some food. They stood erect and whipped their mouth with both the forehands was so innocent that make us crazy.
But the unfortunate day 17th April, 2012 reached. We started our day as usual. That day I came early from the office as we had to leave for Ujjain for some pending work. I put them into little basket, started journey by car. Everything went well. After completing our task we reached home in the night.

Ah….trouble in expressing the next story in words.

I got down, after my son from the car. He had Rabbit in his hand, His father instructed him to leave them for some time in the garden and stay there. He did. As others were following us, the door was opened.

I went inside and not sure, why I called up my son, he entered into the room. Suddenly I heard creaching voice first time of the Rabbit. My heart throbbed out. I realized what blunder we did. We had left the poor rabbit in the garden. As we reached out the dogs had hold him in the jaws and rushed to door. My mother and I yelled. The dog left the Rabbit. I rushed to close the door, suddenly I saw 2 more dogs rushing after one anther towards rabbit. I couldn’t find place to save him, as both the dogs already reached to the rabbit and hold her brutally. My husband rushed listening our voice, he had beaten dog with the chair, placed in the garden, both the dogs ran leaving her.

My husband brought him into the room, his hair was wet but no signs of blood. He put him on the floor, as the rabbit tried to walk, we found, he was dragging both the legs and stomach. . My son and I started crying.

We thought he would survive and got ready to take him to the pet doc, but very soon, we discovered that he won't live. The rabbit had put his head down, rolled his eyes and started taking last breathe. We were left alone with the memories.

This is the second time, when I saw the creature meeting death. First was my own brother.

I am dedicating my blog to him, with a feeling of guilt, please forgive us.
